the difference in the yarn sizes makes the pattern look interesting.

Twisted drop stitch revisited
I am using:
Yarn: Misti Alpaca 100% Baby Alpaca
-Color: 620 Lot No. 78044 (I call it Merlot)
-1 skein 108 yards (98 meters) 100g
Needles: Size 10 bamboo
Gauge: 3½ stitches per inch
Pattern:
CO 15 stitches
http://kisknit.wordpress.com/2006/09/13/twisted-drop-stitch-scarf-pattern/
final length: 65 inches (165 cm)
I am not exactly sure how much yarn I used for this. I bought 2 Skeins, and I still have a significant portion of the 2nd skein left.
3x3 ribbed scarf
This Scarf was a real test for me, for a while every week I would fuck it up and have to take it to the yarn store so they could help my fix it. Eventually I learned how to fix it myself and then things were good. It's not perfect, but I think I may be the only one who can see all the mistakes.
so here we go...
I am using:
Yarn: Washington 100% Merino Wool, 1 skein 210 yards (192 meters)
Needles: Size 8 bamboo
Gauge: 4½ stitches per inch
Pattern
CO 33 stitches
odd rows: k3, p3
even rows: p3, k3
knit until desired length, or until you run out of yarn
final length: 52 inches (132 cm)
simple eh?

I am a hat knitting machine!
I am using:
Yarn: 1 skein Lambs Pride Bulky Oregano (m113)
Yarn: 1 skein Lambs Pride Bulky Gray Heather (m03) for a stripe
Needles: Size 7 circular needles, 16" long
Needles: Size 7 double-pointed needles
Gauge: 4 stitches per inch.
CO 80 stitches loosely
Knit k2, p2 for 6½ add stripe wherever you like
Add stripe (if desired) wherever you like, I added mine after about 4 inches
Round 1: *K2tog, P2, K2, P2* all around
Round 2: *K1, P2, K2, P2* all around
Round 3: *K1, P2, K2, P2* all around
Round 4: *K1, P2tog, K2, P2tog* all round
Round 5: *K1, P1, K2, P2* all round
Round 6: *K1, P1, K2tog, P1* all round
Round 7: *K1, P1, K1, P1* all round
Round 8: *K* all round
Round 9: *K2tog* all round
Round 10: Cut off yarn leaving 6 inch tail, and then thread through all remaining stitches and pull closed. I prefer to leave a little hole at the top so the stitches do no munch up and look funny.

One Hat to rule them all, One Hat to find them, One Hat to bring them all and in the comfiness bind them
So after working on my ribbed scarf, I decided that I had my purl stitch down, and I wanted to try my hand at making a hat again, and I have succeeded! I started this hat on 03-30-08, and finished it on 04-05-08, 1 week later. I think I made good progress considering I knitted the vast majority of it at work.
I started by casting on 74 stitches of Lambs Pride Bulky, and doing a knit purl ribbed pattern, Which I found here http://kisknit.wordpress.com/2006/08/31/fo-second-chemo-cap-plus-the-pattern/. I never being one to follow a pattern decided to knit a fold seam, or whatever the hell it is called a couple inches into the project, and I think it came out looking nice.
If I were to make this mat again, which I am sure I will I would not put in the fold seam, and I would prolly cast on a couple extra stitches, maybe 76-78 just to make it a little large.
enjoy the pics.

Hecka Hella Hella Ipod cozy.
I made a super cool ipod cozy out of my beautiful yarn .. i think life should be made of this yarn. Hopefully i never actually find any to buy cause i'd max out my credit card.
This is the opening of the Icozi

I want to try and make one with openings for the head phone port, screen, and scroll button area.. but complicated.
I took pictures of during the make a little bit mostly because the yarn is really photogenic.

I know it's sort of ugly but its ugly in a beautiful way.

Another Scarf...
So I started work on yet another scarf. I have tried starting many different patterns and none of them seemed to work out so I decided to go with a simple ribbed scarf. This is a knit3 purl3 scarf, and it is probably good that I am working with this pattern so I can work on my purl technique, which always felt very awkward for me. At first I did not want to do a ribbed scarf because it seemed boring, but I am enjoying the way the scarf is turning out already, and it is not as boring as I originally thought.
Thanks to Kim I am now able to read my work, and reverse stitches if need be, and it has come in handy two times during the production of this scarf. Maybe once I am done with this scarf I will feel comfortable doing a ribbed hat for myself.
Enjoy.

Yay super fast shipping!
I ordered some yarn for my moms birthday scarf per her request. She said she really likes purples.. so I got a bunch of different purples to make a pretty purpley scarf.

The light purple is 100% baby alpaca of worsted weight and the darker purple is 100% cotton worsted weight.. it's a sort of bluish purple. It is neat and textered.

Yarn!
Yay after waiting for the longest period of time ever my yarn came(knit picks is located in OH and ships USPS of slow for the impatient)! It's pretty. One of them is 70% baby alpaca and 30% silk. It is 50g/440 yards of lace weight, its called Shimmer Turquise Splendor (of goodness)

The second is 100% baby alpaca, it is the same 50g/440 yards in a "tide pool" color.

I got this awhile back at michael's with a coupon.. it's going to go into my moms scarf with the other puprles that will be coming it's patton mohair nuance nightlife.. It is a sparkley fuzzy blue purple.

I also ordered some pretty purples per my moms request for a birthday scarf from supercrafty.

Failed knitter.
It's horribly sad I don't actually know how to "knit." I tried to remake my hat using knit one purl one for the first couple rows and actually use the knit stitch... it was hard but I finally got one row perfect except.. somehow my ends weren't connected, which didn't seem to bad.. until i got to the end and this big loop from lala land came out and scared me away. Knitting DS seems to be taking over! It is sad.

Roll Brim hat or Peter Pan Cap
...my hat has some issues due to my unwillingness to follow any sort of pattern in full. It actually looks like a hat. Yay! I think i can fix it, it is just a little bit short since i started decreasing too soon I was scared it would be to big. I think if I can unstitch the beginning and figure out how to pick up stitches I can add another 3-5 rows and give it a better edge and maybe even make it a non roll brim hat!
Knitting it in the round is fun and easy.. I did it 3 sittings, mostly.

See I look like a hat.

Then it got scarrrrry so i decided to document all before switching to the double sided needles and ruining it all. The needles are actually a size smaller (8) then the rounds which are a 9.

I don't think the little round things are meant to be used how I used them ... but they are markers and I marked where I needed to decrease. Or atleast where I thought I should decrease.....

My new scarfy scarf...
Soooo I'm kinda bored with my first scarf, and I am also waiting to get one more skein of the dark gray yarn before I go any farther. I would hate to finish the current skien and not be able to start another, so it is getting put on pause for right now. I tried knitting in the round, and it just felt so foreign, and awkward to me so that is also getting put on hold until I feel more comfortable with what I am doing, and possible read a little on how it is done.
Anyways now to the real reason I started this post. I started a scarf yesterday using the twisted drop stitch pattern I found here http://kisknit.wordpress.com/2006/09/13/twisted-drop-stitch-scarf-pattern/#more-82. It took a couple tries to get it the method down, but I am making good progress now. Using the bigger yarn, bigger needles, and this method it is coming together quickly, which is nice. I bought some smaller yarn at Michaels on Saturday, but it just wasn't bulky enough, and i will have to use it for another project.
so here it is, enjoy...
Delightfully, wonderfully....
Juston got me a pretty knitting bag, it is cute as well as beautifully, tastilly, amazingly aweseome...

It keeps my bundle of a scarf safe. My scarf is almost done and would be done if I could sit down and do it for 30 min but Tye says it is ugly and it makes me too sad to work on it. This is it in it's bundled state sitting with its pretty bag.

I also got stuff for a hat.. maybe I will start it today.
